OMG OMG Opera!

Tue Jun 16, 2009, 3:35 PM
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! :iconexcitedplz:

Sorry, I'm excited. I was talking to a friend of mine back in Seattle and somehow we got to talking opera, of which I'm a big fan. I mentioned at some point that I'd always wanted to see The Ring Cycle (aka Der Ring Des Nibelungen) by Richard Wagner, and he said they're performing it at the Seattle Opera in August and there are still tickets for sale. After some squeeing and jumping about, we bought tickets and are going to see it 17th-22nd.

Now, if you don't know, the Seattle Opera is one of the best in the country, and pretty much world renown for their Wagner performances in particular. The opera itself is like 17 hours, and spread over four performances (technically separate operas but one continuous story arc). I'd been to the Seattle Opera a number of times when I lived there, but never managed to see this, partly because it's awfully expensive. I just spent over $1000 dollars on tickets. :paranoid:

If you want to know more about the opera, the Wikipedia article is a good read. In the meantime, I'll be spending the next two months jumping about in anticipation and also pondering what to wear. :excited:

I fell in a hole. :paranoid: I've almost climbed out of it.

Have I missed anything hilarious or ridiculous?

Cool, I'm glad you like it. I often like depressing songs that have upbeat melodies. =P
indeed, there's nothing better than a good mix of emotions ;p

 Often the best songs come from strong personal experiences, people who are able to channel their emotions into music.
those are the best songs. that's why I hate bubblegum pop and rock. Meaningless lyrics about breakups and relationships and nothing important - empty words with stupid music - some bass and synth and that's all...

For instance those horrible r&b songs. I can't stand them. Or pseudo stars like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and The Jonas Brothers. Let's not forget Paris Hilton. Everyone's so crazy about them but I prefer listening to old retro stuff than to those freaks. They don't even know what music is.

In search of a "modern, futuristic mix" between "house, pop, rock, trance" they only create complete shit. And someone told them they can sing too. I hope more people realize what true music is. And I can see you're a true music lover :) And I congratulate you.
